Description

During WWI, soldiers were issued small New Testaments to be carried on their person. This beautiful Bible is cloth-covered and features markings by the soldier, newspaper clippings of the First Texas Cavalry, gilded edges, and a picture of the soldier who carried the Bible. You will find typical wear and patina on this delicate piece of history.

This Bible belonged to soldier J.R. “Jimmy” Houston of the First Texas Cavalry, who enlisted April 10, 1917 and was discharged May 5, 1919.
